Pleasantly Surprised : Dimplex CFP3920BW 20-Inch Electric Fireplace, Burnished Walnut

Sadly, my fireplace was shipped without a piece, the bracket to hold the glass panel in. The panel still fits snug, and until I get the piece from buyer Service, it seems to stay in place fine anyway. The flame result is surprisingly,very good. I did not expect it to be as life-like as it turns out. The heater is very quiet, and genuinely warms both my living room and dining room, an area practically 30 x 15, to a comfortable degree. I agree with the poster above that a isolate setting for the thermostat and flame would have been great. Also, since it is Rf, it doesn't work with my Harmony One remote, but the remote is small and only has an "on" and an "off" button. One strange thing, I looked on the Dimplex site, and can not find this model. Even if it was a closeout, shouldn't they still list the model?

Assembly disappointment : Dimplex DFI23TRIMX Expandable Trim Kit for Electric Fireplace Insert

Well-constructed & does what it's designed to do, but it took me 6 hours to assemble and setup this fireplace frame. The question is mostly due to shortcomings in the instructions.

First, there are approximately no instructions at all; it's effect the pictures . . . If your eyesight is good enough. Do not effort this if you are spatially challenged, a novice at do-it-yourself projects, or lack enough lighting.

Second, the baggy of tiny black screws contains a surprise. Those screws all look much alike, but two of them are without fail not the same as the rest. Those two have have larger threads; if used in the wrong place, they could de facto strip a pre-drilled hole (as an earlier reviewer may have done). Unfortunately, there is no warning note and those two screws are not called for until late in the process when it is time to fasten the frame bracket to the fireplace insert. By then, I had unwittingly used one of those two oddballs in the wrong place. I discovered the question because none of the quarterly screws would grip the larger holes in the insert brackets. After unsuccessfully searching all packaging for two larger screws, I dumped the entire baggy of screws onto a white plate - under good light - and finally noticed one screw that looked a minuscule different. If I had unwittingly used both of those oddballs, I would still be scratching my head & cussing Dimplex. Going back over previous steps, I located the first oddball screw and removed it; whew, that hole was not stripped. I gradually re-did that step with a regular-size screw & a prayer.

Third, there is only one way to properly setup the chain-link curtain . . . But 47 wrong ways. I counted. The pictures are minuscule help; they show the objective, not the process. It takes ingenuity, persistence, and luck. Warning, do not let either rod slip out of place once installed or you'll be in rescue mode. And that leads to:

Fourth, there is no part . . . Seriously . . . No part included to hold those curtain rods in place. normal performance of the curtain can and will shuck those rods out of their brackets and you'll be in rescue mode once again. either do what I did - setup the curtains & rods, then immediately wind some wire tightly colse to the level ends of the rods & fix it in place with super glue. Or, if you're a inpatient person, visit a hardware store to buy two minuscule "keepers" for the level ends of those rods. And some super glue.

Three stars to match the three hairs that I have left after assembling and installing this fireplace frame. It sure does look great, though, and fortunately my wife thinks bald is sexy.
